Case 12 — Hepatic Ultrasound

Abdominal ultrasound of the liver showing markedly distended hepatic veins (HV), characteristic of increased systemic venous pressure from congestive right heart failure. Despite hepatomegaly and distended hepatic veins, this dog surprisingly had no ascites — instead developing pleural effusion as its manifestation of right heart failure.
